Presentation about NCSPT
The National Center for Suicide Prevention Training (NCSPT) provides
educational resources to help public officials, service providers,
and community-based coalitions develop effective suicide prevention
programs and policies.
The goals of the NCSPT are to:
- Provide training on suicide prevention program planning, implementation,
and evaluation
- Help public health professionals understand the role they can
play in preventing suicide
- Facilitate networking and communication among suicide prevention
practitioners
- Support the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention, as developed
by the United States Department of Health and Human Services
- Promote awareness of the problem of youth suicide and ways to
address this problem

- Planning and Evaluation for Youth Suicide Prevention
- Youth Suicide Prevention: An Introduction to Gatekeeping
Continuing education units are available for social workers and
health educators only, at the present time. For more information

As of June 2004, workshops are administered by the Suicide Prevention
Resource Center (SPRC) and additional workshop development done
in collaboration with them. For more information about SPRC, please
go to: www.sprc.org.
NCSPT is a collaboration between the Harvard
Injury Control Research Center (HICRC) and the Education
Development Center, Inc. (EDC). It was established in June 2001
in direct response to identified training needs. NCSPT is funded
by the Maternal and Child Health
Bureau, Human Resources and Services Administration, United
States Department of Health and Human
Services.
